The Ink of squadron supreme

In 1996, Marvel Comics writer/artist Mark Gruenwald (who worked on titles like Captain America and The Avengers) had his ashes mixed into the ink used to print a special issue of Squadron Supreme after his death — at his own request.

A notary public even verified the process so fans knew it was real.

So yes — someone’s literal remains became part of the comic book ink.
(We now sell toner that lasts longer than most human attention spans… but still not quite that eternal.)
It’s one of the strangest intersections of printing tech, human mortality, and fandom ever documented — and it actually happened.
