Fun Fact: Mechanics and DIY gearheads have a long-running underground tradition of "socket graveyards" — giant coffee cans, old ammo boxes, or drawers full of rounded-off, stripped, or broken sockets that people refuse to throw away. Why? Because "one day I'll need that weird 13/32" or "this one's got character."

[Reddit r/MechanicAdvice](https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicAdvice/) compilations are packed with photos of these collections — some guys have hundreds of dead sockets dating back decades, labeled like war trophies ("Died on a rusty 2003 F-150 lug", "Survived 3 engines but lost to a seized caliper bolt").

The dark humor twist: many of these "graves" include sockets from cheap no-name sets that rounded off on the first use, while the same owners swear by their $200+ Snap-On or Milwaukee ratchets like they're family heirlooms. One viral post summed it up: "My socket graveyard is bigger than my toolbox because Harbor Freight lied to me, but my ratchet still owes me nothing."
