A good upgrade from my 25#

I have been shooting the 25# version of this bow for the past year and it was time for me to move up the weight for a more comfortable draw. The 40# here is a good feel without tiring me out unnecessarily. Just a point if you’re learning to shoot don’t just grab the biggest draw you can because you’re a ‘big guy’. Constantly pulling back a heavy draw when you’re learning how to shoot is just going to wear you out when you need to be working on form not punching power. I opted to get the heavier draw of the bow because after all the practice I was ready, and I wanted to give my 25# draw to my wife. Our daughter has a 14# draw that she trains with as well so it felt right to finally have one for each of us.So just like my 25# the quality on the 40# bow is really nice especially at this price point. We aren’t professionals, or even trying to hunt with these they are just part of the variety of weapons we practice with and I still want good quality for what we pay and we seem to have gotten that again with my new bow.The bow looks good, I like the recurve style and always have though maybe someday I’ll look at compound if I’m going to actually try to hunt with it but for just skilling and an activity for us the recurve bow is the right choice. TopArchery for my experience make a pretty bow that hasn’t skimped on function. I obviously don’t keep the bows strung but my year old bow looks nearly identical to the new one after hundreds of firings. The bow is easy to use (tip don’t ever dry fire a bow) but when it comes to putting it together the instructions I got with this one is rubbish. It’s odd because the instructions that came with my bow previously were just fine. It seems like a new version went out that didn’t get edited well at all. You can either muddle through it or a quick search will locate videos on putting it together. The arrows included are basics and while the ones I got were true they aren’t my favorite by far. I already had racks of arrows so this wasn’t an issue but I did fire what came with the bow and they are fine enough to hold you over until you buy some better ones. The bow itself is accurate as your skill will let it but the included arrows aren’t adding anything to that effort.Overall it’s not too expensive, right in the range of a pretty thoughtful gift level for someone, or enough money to spend on yourself that you feel it will last without being so expensive you shy away from picking up a new hobby.

    Surprisingly high quality kit

I am blown away by this recurve bow set! I am not an experienced archer by any means, but this is the highest quality bow I have ever personally handled. It is very well made, and it is very easy to assemble (even for someone who has never assembled or used a recurve bow before). I couldn’t help but admire the handle (or whatever it’s called) for a few minutes before assembling. It is beautiful.I clearly need to practice a lot with this bow, but I feel like it includes everything needed for anyone getting into archery. Plenty of targets, plenty of arrows, and a decent arm guard (very important, which you learn quickly if you’ve never used a bow before!), a good quiver, etc…I am very pleased with this product, and I think it is very much worth the price.

Very limited instruction manual, but seems fairly complete

I grabbed this set on a whim. Now I’m hooked, I need to take a class or something. Its a very nice looking bow, and as far as I can tell fairly complete for a beginner’s setup. Wrist guard, draw glove, bow, arrows, wrench for setup, string and stringing tool, targets, some odds and ends I don’t yet know what to do with, quiver and a case that it all fits into when broken down.Let me say that the 50 pound draw weight is stiff! You may want to think long and hard about that before you just go all out. I’m an average size guy at 6′, and this seems to be a good size for me, but maybe I should have gone with a lighter draw. I can draw it back but it’s a chore for me. A smaller person might not be able to do so. The arrows are carbon shaft with field points for target shooting, and vinyl feathers. I’m sure with some coaching I will achieve some kind of acceptable accuracy but until i find an archery range and an instructor I can’t comment on the overall quality. The accessories like the draw glove and wrist guard are lower tier, but the bow, string and quiver all seem to be sturdy enough. The instructions are detailed enough that you should be able to safely assemble and string it, but that’s all they give you. I have no idea what to do with the little rabbit fur except they are to dampen the string, and the felt sticker probably goes on the arrow rest, but there is no indication in the instructions exactly how they are supposed to be attached. They do stress that you should not dry-fire it, and that is something I knew, but beyond that they only tell you how to string it and give you some safety tips. It’s not an expensive set but it’s not a toy either. It seems like something geared towards more than a casual student of the craft, but at a beginners level. This is something you probably could use a knowledgeable mentor to help you decide what you should order before diving in. Like I said, I bought it on a whim, but now I’m eagerly hunting down some local instruction to at least understand what I’m supposed to do. Looking forward to eventually getting out to the ranch and shooting some hay bales before it gets too cold.

Very nice set with everything you need. Just know your limit on draw strength.

As other reviewers have mentioned, the instructions are garbage. That said, it’s a VERY NICE bow. I myself got the 45lb draw and it’s tough. I’m 6′ and in pretty good shape, so I should have probably gotten the 40lb, but whatever. The design is gorgeous and it comes with a nice quiver. The arrows are your standard “beginner” type arrows, but who cares. I liked the stringing tool they included, but that’s about where the instructions are garbage. It’s lightweight and functions fine. I really enjoyed shooting this.

    Instructions Should Be Updated

This is a really beautiful bow. It is easy to assemble and disassemble with the stringing tool and the accessories are really good quality. I had a little bit of trouble at first getting everything lined up but I think it looks nice. The fur dampeners are a beautiful and quality touch. The quiver is particularly nice, it has a rubberized bottom for sharper arrows, and the gloves and bracer are good modern accessories. I’m really happy with it.*Edit. I tried testing it again immediately after this review. When I drew the string, it completely shattered the wood of one arm of the bow. Not Safe for use.**Second Edit: The team reached out to me to help me with the stringing of the bow, acknowledging that their instructions were poorly written. Even then they gave me a vague instruction of “do not string from the left side of the bow” which is completely arbitrary in my mind. I went to an archery shop and had them show me the correct method. The bow works great with the right instructions, which hopefully the team will actually update considering this is an introductory package. When an item carries inherent risk it is the liability of the company to ensure the safety of their consumers, TOPARCHERY reached out after product failure to better instruct me, but this kit is still best in the hands of someone with experience stringing bows, not just shooting them.

    TOPARCHERY Recurve Bow

I got this for my man for Christmas. He’s never shot a bow before but this is something he’s expressed a lot of interest in so I’m excited to see how he likes it! I did some research before selecting this particular brand and weight and decided that the lightest was the best way to go while we learn. I’m going to try to learn too! It’s a really well made bow and feels like it will last. I think we can also switch out the weight of the string at some point if we want to try for bigger game. Can recommend!
